Two weekends ago I collaborated with my longtime friend, travel mate, and photographer JC Pinheiro. We decided to host a huge photoshoot weekend where we would invite friends to come and enjoy one of the last weekends of summer with good food, laughs and of course, photos. Our friend Sara Volf was there to assist with wardrobe and makeup. At the end, my cheeks were sore as usual from laughing way too much. It doubled as a sort of goodbye to JC as well as he is now a student of Carleton university and I won’t be seeing him as often, but will definitely take a few Greyhounds to Ottawa to see him every once in a while. It was definitely a success and I’d like to thank Andre Ringuette, official photographer for the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators, for lending the extra strobes+ringflash to make it happen. Here are two shots to serve as teasers, the whole gallery will be up in the next 24 hours. Stay tuned.

Last night I shot my all-time favourite band. Their show was unreal and Travis did the infamous “drum solo while the drum stage flies and spins in the air” with him strapped in. And that was just 1/3rd of the encore before finishing off with my favourite, Dammit. If you were a fan, you were there. I shot the show for Alternative Press magazine and got a press-pass. Here are two preview photos until AP finishes with them and I’ll put the rest up!

Crowd in line for Blink.

I was interviewed by Marketing Magazine’s Russ Martin at Portfolio Night 7 last month. They interviewed my writer Mith Das, my classmate Laura Kitching, and Vlad from OCAD.

They brought us in for a photo-shoot which was inspired by an old Esquire photo. It was about up-and-coming actors who were young and anticipated to have bright futures in Hollywood and featured them dangling off a ladder. Thankfully, there weren’t any dangling shenanigans as I’m afraid of heights.

It comes out July 20th. It’s something I can look at when I’m old and say, “I wish I still had all that hair.”

A couple of weeks ago I got some pretty sweet news, an email from Applied Arts Magazine stating that I won not one, but two, awards in this year’s annual student competition that comes out this Fall. This is the first year I submitted content, and also the last that I’ll be eligible for since I graduate this year.

First was my Smart Car ad I did with Braeden Laverty for Best Print Single.
The other was the Leo Burnett Ping-Pong Tournament posters I made with my writer, Mith Das, for Best Print Series.

Who would’ve thought playing ping-pong at my internship at Leo Burnett would nab me and my writer an award? But to be honest, I rarely played cause I sucked at ping-pong. Also, Paul Giannetta (ACD on James Ready) is just plain scary with a paddle.

I really liked this video, good watch. You can tell when someone has a passion for something and this video is all about that.

I received an email this morning notifying me that my Decadence photoset was handpicked out of thousands of sets on behance.net and featured on their site! It’s pretty cool considering I just signed up for that site a week ago.

What this means for you? If you were in the crowd in those shots, you have a chance of being famous in a foreign country haha!

Party alert: Tight Knit DJ’s at Club V (88 Yorkville Ave) this Saturday (May 9th)! It’s also OCAD’s Thesis Afterparty! Email me for details and to get on guestlist.

The response to the Decadaence photos has been insane. I’ve received tons of props from people from all over the world. I snapped some vids of Crookers and Steve Aoki with my phone. The rest of the photos will be in the Bands gallery (click Photos at the top, then click Bands) by tomorrow.

IF YOU LIKED DECADENCE, there’s a new party launching this Saturday at Club V located at 88 Yorkville called AUDIO/VISUAL Saturday’s. It’s just steps away from Bay subway station.  At the deck will be Gingy(more Proof), DJ Cal? (of salacioussound.com), NIGHTS (Hot Flashes), Harmonk Rage and on display will be the excellent artwork of Gabe from 1977.ca who’s responsible for some of the raddest party posters Toronto has ever seen for Crookers and Kavinsky. If you’re interested, add me on Facebook and I’ll send you an invite with all the deets, or email me at neil@neildomingues.com and I will put you on my NeilDlusion guestlist for it!

Well I just couldn’t wait to put up a few more. There was so much love for the blog I posted 30 minutes ago that I’m actually being forced by my good friend who called me on the phone to post the Aoki shots immediately. I’ll post some video from that night as well as the entire set of photos in my Bands gallery in a few days , check back!
